ELECTRICITY RATES TEXAS

For those of you not born in the depression, but who are about to learn what it was all about, this is a sample of the type of things we did. I checked the electricity rates in Dallas and found most of them around $ .15 per KWH. The national average is $ .0976. The price in Texas before deregulation was $ .078. The typical industry response is that the cost of natural gas has gone up. If that is the reason for the difference, then they should explain why retail electricity has gone up 22% while municipal and coop generated electricity has gone up 10%. Although it hasn't generated much interest see, http://blogs.chron.com/newswatchenergy/archives/2008/08/can_you_undo_el_1.html. Mean while you can save a few hundred dollars a month in the summer by shopping rates, but watch the cancellation fees.
